For those who have not read about the dramatic events at London Welsh Rugby Club, here is a link to a detailed article that appeared last month in the Sunday Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/7064131/Forgery-and-fraud-in-rugby-takeover.html
Kelvin Bryon and his team have successfully regained control of the Club as a result of last month's court action. Neil Hollinshead is no longer involved with the Club and was recently made bankrupt by a creditor unconnected with London Welsh. The focus at Old Deer Park has turned to saving the Club financially. An appeal has been launched to members and supporters to raise funds to enable the Club to survive and build upon its highly successful season on the pitch. Details of this can be found on the London Welsh website www.london-welsh.co.uk There is also a link from the Wales in London website. In particular, a 125 Club (see e-flyer above) has been established to create a fighting fund. Donations of £125 or multiples of that (£250, £500, £1,250 etc) are being sought to save the Club in its 125th year. The initial response in the first week of the appeal has been promising with £135,000 raised of the target of £500,000 required by the end of this month. However, there is clearly still some way to go.
We are also in discussions with the Club about a "Wales in London Matchday" in the coming weeks to show concerted support for the Club. In the meanwhile, please consider subscribing to the 125 Club and/or simply going through the turnstiles to give tangible support: you are likely to have an enjoyable afternoon.
The team has ensured its place in the playoffs (in March and April) for the Championship title and the opportunity to gain promotion to the Premiership. It is also unbeaten in the British and Irish Cup. Please note that Saturday's Cup match against Bedford Blues kicks off at Old Deer Park at the earlier time of 12 noon to allow for viewing of the Wales-Scotland game later in the afternoon
